Nichols Students’ #NC22Challenge Fundraiser for Veterans Exceeds Goal

By PRISCILA ALFARO-BARRANTES, Ph.D.

On behalf of my Nichols College classes, “Learning to Lead 101-08” and “Principles of Marketing 202-04,” I would like to thank you for participating in our #GivingTuesday campaign, the #NC22Challenge.

My students’ goal was to raise $2,500, but with your help and support we reached and exceeded that goal. The total amount raised was $4,762 to benefit The Warrior Connection, a non-profit organization located in Vermont that helps veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Through this campaign, my students were able to learn and apply concepts related to servant leadership and social media marketing. They were also able to learn more about the impact that PTSD has on veterans and how important it is for civilians to get involved and lend a helping hand.

We really appreciate all the faculty, staff, Board of Trustees members, students, families, and friends that for about a month did push-ups, donated, nominated people, and shared our social media posts.

Nichols College Professor Priscila Alfaro-Barrantes, Ph.D., talks about the #NC22Challenge with two of her students, Brian Edmands and Nadiv Bangura.

I personally would like to thank my students for working very hard on this project, Nichols College Director of Public Relations & Social Media Lorraine Martinelle for her continued support and encouragement, and all of you — my Nichols colleagues — for being awesome and for supporting this project. I have always wanted to do something like this with my students, and this is the first college that has allowed me to do so.

Thank you, I am very happy to be here!

Priscila Alfaro-Barrantes, Ph.D., is assistant professor of sport management and management at Nichols College.
