Webster Tornado Relief: Your Help is Needed

As most of you are aware, our neighbors in Dudley and Webster were hit last Saturday, August 4, by a tornado. Every day there are more and more stories arising about the destruction and devastation this storm has caused in our community.

The Webster-based Blessed Backpack Brigade lost all of their supplies when their storage area, located in one of the buildings that suffered severe damage, was flooded. This 501c(3) organization provides guidance and support for the homeless, elderly, disabled, veterans, unemployed, underemployed, and impoverished in the Dudley/Webster area and beyond. They not only serve hot meals but also supply backpacks filled with everyday essentials.

The items requested, in order of importance to restock, are:

  • Non-perishable food – especially individually wrapped items
  • Toiletries
  • Socks/sweatpants, etc.
  • Paper goods – cups, napkins, plates, silverware

Monetary donations are also being requested. Those may be left with Lynn Looby, assistant to President Susan West Engelkemeyer.

Please consider helping the Blessed Backpack Brigade by donating anything you can. A collection bin will be in Davis Hall’s lobby from Thursday, August 9, to Wednesday, August 15.
