DUDLEY, Mass.—Kerry Calnan, executive director of Nichols College Graduate & Professional Studies in Dudley, Mass., has been honored by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) with its 2018 John L. Green Award for Excellence in Business Education.

The John L. Green Award for Excellence in Business Education honors individuals who have made significant contributions that advance the cause of academic quality in business education in a manner consistent with the IACBE’s Characteristics of Excellence in Business Education. The award is named after Dr. John L. Green Jr., founder and president emeritus of the IACBE, who spent most of his life helping others to achieve excellence in business education.

Calnan serves on the IACBE Board of Commissioners. The organization hosted its annual conference and assembly meeting April 17-20, 2018, in New Orleans. This year’s theme was “Business Education: Learn. Apply. Experience.”

In addition to leading Nichols College’s Graduate & Professional Studies—overseeing its four graduate degrees as well as certificate and corporate programs—Calnan serves on the College’s faculty as an associate professor of accounting and finance and is currently in the final year of coursework in Sacred Heart University’s DBA in Finance program. She anticipates defending her dissertation in May 2019. Previously, Calnan served as director of the Elms College MBA program in Chicopee, Mass., and held a tenured faculty position as associate professor of accounting.

She earned an MBA from Western New England University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Westfield State University. Calnan holds a professional license as a certified management accountant and spent 10 years in corporate accounting and finance positions prior to becoming an educator. Her industry experience includes ABB, as a division controller for a $150 million domestic and international business unit in the United States. Calnan serves on the Maastricht School of Management Faculty Advisory Board in The Netherlands and the Massachusetts chapter for the American Council on Education.
