Readers of the central Massachusetts region’s definitive source for business news, Worcester Business Journal (WBJ), have again chosen Nichols College as the “Best College for Business Education” in the newspaper’s 5th annual Best of Business Awards, announced Jan. 8, 2018, in the biweekly newspaper.
Nichols garnered 77 percent more votes than the second-place college, out of nearly 900 votes cast for the award, according to Worcester Business Journal Editor Brad Kane. In total, 2,155 WBJ readers voted in this year’s Best of Business awards, which included 49 honors.
The chief focus of Nichols is business education and helping develop the business leaders of tomorrow.
Worcester Business Journal attracts a readership audience of business decision-makers who are managing businesses large and small. More than 90 percent of its readers are the senior executive in their organization. In addition to being the key decision-makers in their organizations,WBJ readers are also well educated and highly affluent.
“Nichols has won the Best College for a Business Education award from WBJ readers for four out of the last five years, and it’s easy to see why,” said Kane. “The College does all the little things right, down to preparing its students to take job interviews. Whether employers are looking to hire or send their employees back for additional learning, they give Nichols high marks.”
The recognition by the WBJ and its readership underscores Nichols College’s vision statement to be the college of choice for business and leadership education.
“It is an amazing honor to again be chosen by readers of Worcester Business Journal to be the best college for business education and to also be recognized by Worcester-area employers,” said Nichols College President Susan West Engelkemeyer, Ph.D. “The fact that we’ve won this award three years in a row—and four out of five times—speaks to the outstanding reputation for business and leadership education that Nichols College has in central Massachusetts.
“I’m proud of our faculty and staff who educate, prepare, and support our impressive students—tomorrow’s polished and innovative leaders—for their path to career success,” added President Engelkemeyer. “Nichols students have the benefit here of receiving leadership training and faculty mentoring; and being part of many team-based experiential courses and projects and presentations. Whether our graduates embark on a more traditional career path, ignite their entrepreneurial spirit, or follow their passions outside the business world, Nichols will always be proud to play a small part in their journey.”
Nichols College and other category winners will be honored Jan. 25, 2018, at WBJ’s 5th annual Best of Business Awards event at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester.
