New students moved into their new home at Nichols College Friday, August 24. Residence Life staff, members of the Student Government Association, and athletes took part in helping parents and first-year students move their belongings into their rooms in Shamie Hall.
Nichols welcomed 423 incoming students. Of the total, 356 are first-year students, and 67 are transfer students. Thirteen are international students. States represented by the new students are: California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. The countries represented are Canada, Germany, Sweden, China, Italy, the Bahamas, and Czech Republic.
A slate of activities were planned for New Student Orientation Weekend, August 24-26, including a BBQ on Copper Beech Quad, a special welcome on the Guest House lawn, dinners, a sexual assault awareness program, a civility discussion, a Bison Pride rally, game nights, and group meetings.
