When students return to campus this month, they’ll witness a very different Lombard Dining Hall. Construction started in December, and the project’s completion is expected in 2021.
According to Robert LaVigne, Nichols College’s associate vice president for facilities management, Lombard’s renovation will be phased over the next three years. The project has six phases. Currently, the construction crew is rebuilding the east elevation, which is phase 2. This phase will be completed by December 2018. When students return for spring semester in late January 2019, this phase will be open for their use. Phase 2 is dining space overlooking Center Road will feature vaulted ceilings and large windows.
Phase 3 will start in January and will consist of rebuilding the west façade (rear section of the dining hall, also known as the booth area).
For the 2018-2019 academic year, there will be no changes to any of the food or beverage stations.
